More Than Just Kills: Progressing as a Team in WARDOGS 🎖️
WARDOGS is not just about getting the most kills. The upcoming tactical FPS rewards players for everything that helps their team, whether they are fighting on the frontline, reviving teammates, transporting soldiers, building defenses or scouting with binoculars.
Here is how progression works and why even the player sitting on a hill with binoculars can help win the match.
How Matches Work in WARDOGS ⚔️
WARDOGS supports battles with up to 100 players divided between three factions. All three teams fight over a randomized Control Zone, and the team with the most players inside earns points. The first faction to reach 100 points wins the match.
Inside the Control Zone is a smaller Hot Zone. Holding this dangerous area makes your presence more valuable and increases the rewards you can earn, but naturally, everyone else wants it too.
Earn Money by Helping Your Team 💰
Every player begins with $10,000. Before deploying, you use this money to purchase weapons, armor, medical equipment, specialist tools or vehicles.
When you die, your equipment is lost and you must purchase a new loadout. Your remaining cash carries over between matches, making every expensive weapon or vehicle a calculated risk.
The good news is that shooting enemies is far from the only way to earn money. WARDOGS also rewards actions such as:
- Reviving and healing teammates
- Transporting players into the Control Zone
- Spotting enemy soldiers and vehicles
- Building and repairing defenses
- Delivering supplies
- Capturing and defending the objective
This means you can progress without being the best shooter on the server. If your actions help the team, the game rewards you for them.
Choose Your Own Role 🪖
WARDOGS does not lock players into traditional classes. Your equipment and actions determine your role during each life.
The progression system includes six different paths:
- Assault
- Medic
- Support
- Recon
- Driver
- Pilot
Playing a particular role earns experience toward that path and helps unlock related equipment.
You could play as a Medic during one life, switch to Recon after respawning and later save enough money to purchase a helicopter. You are free to adapt depending on what your team currently needs.
Every Player Can Change the Battle 🤝
Infantry players capture territory and keep enemies away from the objective, but they cannot do everything alone.
Medics keep expensive loadouts in the fight by reviving fallen teammates. Support players build defenses, repair vehicles and deliver supplies. Drivers and pilots move groups of players across the map, allowing the team to reinforce the Control Zone much faster.
Even scouting can make a major difference. Using binoculars or other Recon equipment lets you mark enemy infantry and vehicles for your teammates.
If that information prevents an ambush or helps someone destroy an approaching vehicle, you may have changed the battle without firing a single shot. Beta players particularly praised Recon because it allows players without perfect aim to still have a meaningful impact.
The Battlefield Needs Taxi Drivers Too 🚁🎵
Transport pilots and drivers are especially important at the beginning of a match, when large groups of players need to reach the active zone.
They earn rewards for delivering teammates into battle, and some vehicles even let the crew play music during the journey. Helicopters include a cassette player that can provide the perfect soundtrack for your deployment.
Whether the pilot also provides a safe landing is unfortunately not guaranteed.
A skilled pilot might finish a match with very few kills while still being responsible for transporting dozens of players and supplies to the frontline.
Teamwork Is the Real Progression System 🏆
WARDOGS gives players plenty of weapons, vehicles and equipment to unlock, but its biggest strength may be how it rewards teamwork.
You do not have to carry the match alone. The Medic who revives you, the Scout who marks your target, the Driver who gets you to the objective and the Support player who builds your cover are all contributing to the same victory.
Sometimes the most important player on the team is not the one with the biggest weapon. Sometimes it is the person with a pair of binoculars and a good view.
